The goal of this year’s educational program was designed to meet the changing needs of elevator professionals and the many presentations achieved that goal.

This year’s special event was sponsored by Elevator Controls Corporation. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Fior d’Italia and a satirical show at Club Fugazi called ‘Beach Blanket Babylon’.

In Memorium to John Blatt 1939 - 2008
During the Forum, Bob Caporale shared a video he had prepared with highlights from the life and career of John Blatt, Vice President of NAVTP, who passed away in February of 2008. Gordon Ernst shared his thoughts about John and reported on his experience attending the memorial for John held in Port Clinton, Ohio on March 1, 2008. John had a great influence on the people in Put In Bay and Pt. Clinton. It was evident from all attending the memorial held to celebrate John’s life how much of an influence he had on the people in Put In Bay and Port Clinton. John was very involved with the community, education and especially the drug enforcement efforts in the area. He had personally purchased two canines who served with the drug enforcement officers in Port Clinton. John was very active in NAVTP, was extremely knowledgeable and has contributed greatly to NAVTP and to the entire elevator industry. He will be greatly missed!
